Police chowki to come up on gangster’s land

Gurgaon: Months after attaching his property, the special task force (STF) has decided to build a police chowki on the land of absconding gangster Sube Singh Gujjar, a close aide of gangster Kaushal who is also on the run. The police had tried to auction this property two times earlier, but failed in their attempts as no bidders turned up.
Sources said there are 10 such more criminals on the STF’s list, and their properties will be attached and auctioned soon. The 450-sq-yard plot of Gujjar was attached by Gurgaon police in February this year, when KK Rao was the city police commissioner. It was an unprecedented move to pressure Gujjar and other absconding proclaimed offenders and gangsters to surrender before the police.
Gujjar’s land is worth around Rs 4 crore, and is located along Delhi-Jaipur Expressway in Manesar. It was put up for auction, but probably scared of the gangster no bidders turned up. Following this, STF chief and former commissioner KK Rao decided to use it for boosting infrastructure for police. A four-room chowki is now being built on this land, a few metres away from the highway.
Gujjar is wanted in more than a dozen murder and numerous extortion cases. The construction work of the police chowki started around four days ago. The STF said the chowki would be ready as earliest possible.

“Majority of these gangsters turn to crime for making quick bucks. They then invest in properties. Taking the property away from them would make the gangsters surrender before the police. People seem to be scared to take part in the auction and bid for his property. Now we have decided to use this property for police welfare, and if required, social welfare also. Construction of the four-room chowki has already started and will be completed soon. Some other criminals are also on our radar,” IG KK Rao, head of STF, told TOI.
Gujjar is believed to be the key aide of Kaushal and is taking care of his business. His arrest would cripple the gang’s activities, according to police. Gujjar is wanted for Tejpal alias Anni’s murder. Anni was shot dead on January 18, 2018. He also had a role in the murder of Tatarpur village sarpanch Sanjay in February last year. In July 2017, Gujjar was involved in the murder of Girdawar Satbir in Bawal, police said.
