ALLAHABAD: The anti-encroachment team of the
Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (
PMC), accompanied by the district administration, carried out an extensive
anti-encroachment drive at the MG road of the city. The stretch of road, starting from medical college crossing to
Madhwapur sabji mandi, was cleared of all the encroachment.
Detailing about the drive, carried out on Wednesday, officer in charge Manoj Kumar Yadav of PMC said that the drive started at around 11:00am and continued till evening. In all, two roadside shops, five vendors, three counters, five makeshift huts were demolished. Likewise, five nurseries and 103 vegetable shops that were on the roadside were removed in the drive.
“The entire stretch of road is subjected to traffic jam on routine basis and Wednesday’s drive was carried out to remove the obstructions caused by these roadside occupants who have encroached," said Yadav.
Equipped with heavy police force, JCB and vehicles of the PMC, the team started removing the encroachment by the shopkeepers who had constructed cemented platforms in front of their shops and were using as extension, said the officer.
