Man throws acid on estranged wife’s face

Rajkot: In a heinous crime, a man threw acid on his estranged wife’s face on Gondal Road in Rajkot city on Wednesday morning. Police said the accused, Pritesh Popat, threw acid on wife Maya Jobanputra’s face, as he suspected her of having an affair.
“Jobanputra had separated from her husband eight years ago and was working with a private firm. Popat suspected her of having an affair. On the fateful day, he followed Jobanputra’s two-wheer on his bike and waylaid her on Gondal Road and threw acid on her face,” said A G Ambasana, sub-inspector with Rajkot A division police station.
Jobanputra has two daughters from Popat, who is a trader in Porbandar.
