Only eight seats vacant for pharmacy courses

AHMEDABAD: In the first round of allotment for admission to pharmacy colleges by the Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC), 6,434 candidates have got admission, leaving only eight seats vacant.
The situation is however likely to change in the next few days after the admission to medical and para-medical courses are announced, said sources in ACPC.
“In the last four years we have seen this trend where candidates opt for pharmacy initially but once the admission procedure for medical courses are announced, more than half of the seats in pharmacy colleges lie vacant. This is likely to happen this year too,” sources said.
There are 71 colleges for degree courses and 16 for diploma pharmacy colleges in the state. In the first merit list, of 15,371 candidates, 12,299 have participated in the choice filling process. This does not include NRI and management quota.
The eight vacant seats are in the diploma colleges. The second round of admission will be held only after the admission schedule of medical and para-medical is clear, sources said.
