Inquiry into denial of school admission

Coimbatore: After the headmaster of the Government Boys High School at Ondipudur refused admission to a student on apprehension that the school’s pass percentage would be hit, the school education department has ordered an inquiry into the incident. The issue came to light on Wednesday when a video showing headmaster Ravindran hustling the student’s father Ganesh over an argument went viral on social media.
Sources said the student had been studying at the Kannampalayam Government School and had dropped out of Class IX. However, the school authorities had, by mistake, mentioned that the student had dropped out of class X. It prompted Ravindran to refuse admission to the student. tnn
