This newlywed businessman’s unique birthday gift to wife is now talk of the town

Ludhiana: Vivek for the past few weeks had been in a fix about what to gift his wife — who would soon be celebrating her first birthday after their wedding — as he wanted to do something special for his beloved.
One day while returning home from work, the Green Field businessman saw an advertisement on a huge hoarding and instantly got an idea. He approached the advertisement company and booked one of their hoardings to give away birthday wishes to his wife Nancy. The message was so awe-inspiring that not just Nancy, but passersby and commuters gazed at the enormous gesture of love with wonder. The hoarding is installed at Fountain Chowk.
Sharing his idea with TOI, Vivek said, “We got married on May 26 this year and in this short span, I have lived the best days of my life with Nancy. It was her birthday so I wanted to wish her in a unique and memorable way.” While looking at the advertisements on these hoardings, I thought to myself how would my wife’s picture appear on one of these, he said adding that he soon contacted the advertisers and requested for a hoarding.
“The company replied in affirmative and a hoarding was installed near Fountain Chowk on Monday evening. To surprise my wife, I asked her to come along for a drive at midnight and when we reached near the junction, she was mighty surprised to see the birthday wishes,” said Vivek.
The newly-wed said he feels lucky to have Nancy in his life and does not mind in expressing his love for her publicly. “The relatives are specially going to Fountain Chowk to see the hoarding,” he said adding that he also made a video of her family members giving her birthday wishes and has also planned a party for her.

Meanwhile, birthday girl Nancy, who is an interior designer, says she couldn’t be happier. “When I saw the hoarding, for the first 2-3 minutes, I went speechless and instantly tears rolled down my face on realizing how beautiful the surprise was,” she said. She said theirs is an arrange marriage and they got only three-to-four months to know each other before the marriage, but now they share a strong bond.
Shavinder Sandhu from Leaf Berry advertisement company said, “We had received the request through email and found his idea quite unique, so we decided not to charge him anything. We thought it could be turned into a trend among Ludhianvis.”
