19-year-old youth stabbed to death

Surat: Body of 19-year-old youth with eight stab wounds on the chest, head and stomach was found in an open ground, late on Tuesday evening. The youth, who worked in a twisting unit in Dindoli, had left his house on Tuesday evening to meet some friends and a few hours later his body was recovered.
According to Dindoli police, Abhishek V Wankhede’s body was found in an open ground near Mansi Residency. A resident of Amidhara Society in Dindoli area, Wankhede did not have any history of crime.
According to his family, Wankhede left the house in the evening to meet some friends and said he would return late. However, when he failed to return till late in the night, the worried family members started searching for him. Meanwhile, police got information about a body lying in the open ground near Mansi residency.

Primary postmortem report establishes the death to have occurred due to the stab wounds. Police confirmed that the youth did not have a criminal past nor was he ever registered for any crime.
“This area does not have any CCTV cameras. However, we have recorded the statement of the family members and some of his friends. We have a few clues and are working on them and hope to reach the killers in a short time,” said a police official, adding that cops are now trying to find out the reason behind his murder.
