At least five people were declared dead due to Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in Assamís Dibrugarh on Tuesday. Several patients got admitted in the hospital for medical treatment. While speaking to ANI on this matter, Health Coordinator Officer of Dibrugarh, Dr. Nabajyoti Gogoi said, “A total of 189 cases of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) have been reported in Assamís Dibrugarh since the month of January. Five of them died from Japanese Encephalitis (JE) and nine died from AES.” Earlier, Assam government has kept leaves of all doctors and paramedical staff on hold across the state.
