New Delhi: BSP chief
Mayawati has begun the process of selecting candidates for byelections to 12 assembly seats, necessitated following election of 11 MLAs to
Lok Sabha and disqualification of an MLA from Hamirpur. The BSP chief held meetings with party functionaries who work in
Uttar Pradesh East, West and
Bundelkhand regions.
As per the new BSP organisation, one zone — with three to six leaders as prabhari (in-charge) — will now accommodate three state divisions. “The idea is to directly connect with supporters at ground level. She wants to ensure participation of every section of society ,” a party source told ET.
Mayawati is likely to hold a review meeting in August.
