Man beats wife to death after row over sesame seeds

Gurgaon: An argument between a man and his wife led to the latter’s murder on Sunday. The 52-year-old accused allegedly thrashed his wife to death with an iron rod and a stick in their Farrukhnagar home, police said.
According to police, the point of argument was that Santosh (52) had, a few months ago, sold off 50kg of sesame seeds without asking Lalman, her husband.
When police reached the house on Sunday, they found the woman’s body on the bed while Lalman was absconding. Sumer Singh, Santosh’s brother, told police that there was some misunderstanding between the two during the past few months.

“They had been married for 35 years. Around six months ago, my sister had sold off some sesame seeds without asking Lalman. This led to an altercation between the two, and Santosh left the house for our relatives’ home. After other family members intervened, Santosh went back to Lalman’s house on July 6. The next day she was found dead,” Sumer told police.
Following Sumer’s complaint, an FIR was registered against Lalman under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC at Farrukhnagar police station and he was arrested. “During the interrogation, he said they again had an argument over the sale of sesame seeds, and in a fit of rage he thrashed her with a stick and iron rod, leading to her death,” police spokesperson Subhash Boken said.
