Rain stops India vs NZ semi-final

New Zealand were 211 for five against India in 46.1 overs when rain stopped play in the first ICC Cricket World Cup semifinal at Old Trafford in Manchester today.

After electing to bat, New Zealand endured a sluggish start as Jasprit Bumrah removed Martin Guptil with just one run on board.

Ross Taylor took the Kiwis past 200-run mark with an unbeaten 67-run knock. Skipper Kane Williamson scored 67 off 95 balls. It was his 39th ODI fifty.

Besides Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya, Chahal and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar scalped one wicket each.

Both teams are facing each other for the first time in this tournament after their league game got washed out without a ball being bowled in Birmingham.

Two-time champions and table toppers India will be looking to book a berth for the Final in today’s match.

The second semi-final match will be played between England and Australia in Birmingham on Thursday. The final is slated for Sunday at the Lord’s in London.
