Coimbatore: Four people were fined for hunting and killing a wild board for meet on Tuesday.
The forest department identified the accused as Palanisamy, 38, Karuppiah, 39, Rangasamy, 40, and Rangaraj, 40. They were fined Rs40,000.
According to a forest officer, the four caught the wild boar from a private patta land. Forest officers got a tip and caught them while they were taking the carcass to Karadimadai to cook it.
In another incident, two 22-year-old men from Palladam were arrested for catching a Black Kite and trying to sell it on Monday evening. Police said they got a tip that the two were going to sell the schedule species bird, which they had caught from the Mannarkadu Forest in Kerala, near Karpagam College. The arrested were identified as Basal Ahmad and Sanjay.
