Plastic is non-biodegradable and the largest pollutant to the environment. While reducing and banning the use of plastic is a significant step, what can be done about the existing plastic waste on lands and oceans? As plastic doesn't break down easily, there are many ways plastic can be recycled, reinvented and reused.
Fashion being the world's second most polluting industry, it has a huge potential in changing the way plastic is polluting our planet. Dipping toe in the water, luxury fashion house, Prada recently announced their new initiative towards sustainable fashion.
The brand has now partnered with Italian textile producer, Aquafil to use Econy, a sustainable nylon fabric. It is made by recycling plastic waste collected from oceans, fishing nets and textile waste with no loss of quality. The brand has now committed to cover all their nylon products to Econy by 2021.
When a company as big as Prada makes a step towards sustainable fashion, it definitely leaves a big impact. Over the years, the high-end luxury brands have often ignored sustainability over exclusivity. However, with aware customers and new alternatives, the fashion industry is slowly changing tow
