Rural police demand all-woman police stn at Karumathampatti

Coimbatore: The rural police have sent a proposal to the state government to set up an all-woman police station at Karumathampatti. If everything goes well, people from Sulur and Karumathampatti won’t have to travel all the way to Perur all-woman police station to lodge complaints.
According to sources, rural police officials have requested the director general of police (DGP) J K Tripathy to sanction the all-woman police station for Karumathampatti sub-division.

The rural police have Periyanaickenpalayam, Perur, Pollachi, Valparai and Karumathampatti sub-divisions, which has a total of 35 police stations under them. The rural police have only three all-woman police stations coming under Perur, Periyanaickenpalayam and Pollachi sub-divisions. If the government were to sanction one more all-woman police station at Karumathampatti sub-division, people won’t have to travel long distances to lodge their complaints at Thudiyalur or Perur all-woman police stations from Karumathampatti, Sulur, Kovilpalayam and Annur police limits.
The rural police have also requested for traffic police units at Karumathampatti, Vadavalli and Sulur police stations. As of now, Coimbatore rural police have traffic police units only at Mettupalayam and Pollachi. But Karumathampatti, Sulur areas cover National Highways and state highways roads and many fatal accidents are reported from these two police stations.
