Welfare measures for physically-challenged

Udhagamandalam: Welfare measures, including battery-operated wheelchairs and motor-operated sewing machines were distributed to about 41 physically-challenged people at a special camp organized by the differently-abled welfare department here on Tuesday.
Collector J Innocent Divya handed over Rs 25,000 to three women as marriage assistance. Eight battery-operated wheelchairs and five motor-operated sewing machines besides monetary assistance for education were also distributed to the beneficiaries.
Welfare measures worth Rs 7, 95,900 were distributed, sources said.
Divya later received petitions from the differently-abled people and instructed the officials concerned to take action on the petitions.
