PUNE: An autorickshaw driver and his accomplice robbed Ganesh Maskar (18) of cash and a cellphone, collectively worth Rs10,550, at a bus stop in Hinjewadi around 1.30am on Saturday.
Maskar works at a firm in Hinjewadi. He was waiting at a bus stop when the autorickshaw stopped near him. “The accomplice was sitting in the passenger seat. He snatched his cellphone as well as Rs550 and fled,” said an officer from the Hinjewadi police.
This is the second such robbery reported from Hinjewadi in the past 10 days. On June 28, a bike-borne duo assaulted and robbed Prasad Mane (30) of gold ornaments and a cellphone, collectively worth Rs68,000, around 11pm on Katraj-Dehu Road bypass.
Mane had lodged a complaint with the Hinjewadi police. Police said Mane was walking along the bypass when the duo stopped and asked him directions of a nearby petrol pump.

As Mane was about to reply, the duo got off the motorcycle and punched him. They forcibly removed his gold ring, bracelet, chain, wristwatch and cellphone. The duo then fled.
The suspects are targeting people at dark and secluded spots with no surveillance cameras. “We have intensified patrolling at such spots,” a police officer said.
