Snooker champ seeks Rajya Sabha seat

Udhagamandalam: KR Andu Gowder, an 18-time district snooker champion and a social activist from the Nilgiris, has written to the President of India seeking a seat in the Upper House.
In his application to the President, the octogenarian said he would like to dedicate himself for the growth of sports and agriculture field. According to him, age never posed a threat to him as a sportsperson, farmer and social activist.

“In my early days one of my friends introduced the game at the Ooty Club. For some reason the game attracted me. Given the fact it is a costly game, I could not practice and continued to play the game at the club as I was not a member,” the 85-year-old man told TOI.
Gowder is also the vice-chairman of Bharat Krishak Samaj, a farmers’ forum.TNN
