RAJKOT:
Bhavnagar railway division honoured a
loco pilot who saved a train from an accident and had a close shave last month. The division also honoured assistant observer of Junagadh railway station who had returned the bag containing valuables to a passenger.
According to a statement issued by
Bhavnagar railway division, loko pilot CU Vajpayee while driving the train spotted a heavy tree which was uprooted and had fallen on the tracks between Rajula and Mahuva junctions on June 12. He immediately applied the break and stopped the train before it could have colluded with tree, thus saving the lives of passengers; he later informed the control room to clean the track.

He took this bag to railway police force who checked the bag and found a gold chain weiging 30 gram and some cash inside. The bag was later handed over to its original owner after proper verification and documentation. “These both people have been honoured for doing some out of the box work,” Niladevi Jhala, assistant commercial manager, said.
