He sourced it through a foreigner settled in Bengaluru

The Aluva Range Excise Squad on Tuesday arrested a person allegedly with 105 diazepam tablets.

Abdul Rasheed, 34, of Aluva, was allegedly part of a network that supplied drugs to clandestine rave parties at private resorts in the city. He was picked up with the drug from Choondy. It was arguably one of the biggest seizures of diazepam in the State in recent times.

The arrest was made during a special drive, codenamed Operation Monsoon, carried out in Aluva under the instruction of Deputy Excise Commissioner K. Chandrapalan considering the rising profile of Aluva in drug movement. The excise sleuths had reportedly garnered information about the key players of the network from the accused. He used to source the drug, known as French Fries among its users, through a foreigner settled in Bengaluru. This link is now being probed.

A team led by excise inspector T.K. Gopi, preventive officer Vasudevan and shadow team members N.D. Tomy, and N.G. Ajithkumar and civil excise officers Siyadh and Neethu made the arrest.
