  • Two friends from the Gold Coast have won free ramen for an entire year
  • Jo Thomas and Kelly Thomsen had to get their legs tattooed in order to win
  • The duo got the restaurant's logo 'I Like Ramen' inked on their legs
  • The pair said they love the noodle dish and were looking for a matching design

Two best friends have gone to extreme lengths to score free bowls of ramen for a year by getting a restaurant's logo tattooed on their legs.

The duo entered a Facebook contest held by Gold Coast-based vegan restaurant 'I Like Ramen' which sells plant-based versions of the popular Japanese noodle dish.

To apply, the first three people had to share a picture of themselves getting 'I Like Ramen' permanently inked anywhere on their body.

One of the winners, Jo Thomas said she had no hesitations in getting her leg tattooed after her friend Kelly Thomsen - who also won - tagged her in the post.

'It was a split second decision. But I would have done it even for one bowl of free ramen,' Jo told Gold Coast Bulletin.

Aside from her love of the broth-based dish, Jo said she and Kelly had already been thinking about getting matching tattoos long before the competition started.

The owners of the eatery said the competition was open to anyone wanting to get their logo tattooed on their body with the only condition that it be visible.

The prize on offer to the first three who entered was a free bowl of ramen each week for the next year.

'Get the I like ramen logo tattooed on your body (somewhere visible) and you're on your way to snag one free Ramen a week for a whole year,' the post read.

'Your tat must be presented to staff in order to receive your free bowls.'

'The first three people to direct message us a photo of them in "the chair" will get the green light from us and sent a confirmation, so don't come fourth.'

The competition was meant to run for two weeks, but restaurant Dominic Benjamin and Bobby Douglas said it was over in a flash.

Mr Douglas said the idea was originally conceived as a joke and the fact there were takers had surprised him and his business partner.

He added the eatery was known for its unique promotions and said fans should be on the lookout for their next 'outrageous idea'.

The restaurant recently announced winners on Facebook along with photos showing the three who'd stepped up to be inked with the restaurant's logo.

The post was captioned: 'Looking forward to feeding you three and a life long commitment to Ramen together.'
