Tesla Model 3 Performance Obliterates Charger Hellcat From A Standstill

This power struggle, no pun intended, between internal combustion engines and fully electric powertrains will definitely not be put to rest anytime soon.

As things stand right now, they each have their strong points when it comes to accelerating in a straight line. However, this particular Charger Hellcat also happens to be a RWD model, which means that in most instances, getting it to put all of its power down efficiently can be a struggle, especially off the line.

The flip side of that is that you have plenty of power to begin with.

The Charger Hellcat is propelled by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine, producing 707 HP (717 PS) and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque. On paper, it’s capable of hitting 60 mph (96 km/h) in about 3.5 seconds, which is almost as good as what the Tesla Model 3 Performance can do. However, races are almost never won on paper.

With 450 horses and about 471 lb-ft (639 Nm) of instant torque at its disposal, the Tesla Model 3 Performance will rocket to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds, and will do so without struggling to put all of its grunt down thanks to its all-wheel drive system.

Now, if you think the Dodge got completely embarrassed by the Tesla in this video, you’d only be half right. After the standstill drag race, the guys from Throttle House decided to do a rolling race as well, in order to give the RWD brute a fighting chance.

We’ll let you find out for yourselves who won that and by what margin.
