Weight Loss Diet: Move Over Oily Pickles! Try Making This Low-Cal, Oil-Free Adrak Ka Achaar At Home

This ginger pickle is made without using oil

Highlights
  • Pickles are brimming with a range of flavours
  • Most vegetable pickles are doused in lots of oil
  • However, this ginger pickle is made without using oil and is low-calorie

Be it curries, pulao or flatbreads, almost all Indian meals complement well with pickles (achaar). Pickles not only take the flavour game of a dish to a whole new level, but are also quite diverse! No wonder there are so many varieties of pickle available out there in grocery stores. If you're someone who is on a weight loss spree, you may consider opting out of this delight in your meal as it is doused in lots of oil, which is required for its preservation.

But, what if we say that there is a healthy alternative for you as well! Yes, you read that right! Not all pickles are laden with oil. Mumbai-based YouTuber Alpa Modi has made use of ginger and turned it into a pickle using just three basic kitchen ingredients. Alpa shared a recipe of Ginger Pickle (Adrak ka achaar) on her YouTube channel 'Something's Cooking With Alpa'. This 2-minute recipe with step-by-step instructions can be easily prepared in the comforts of your kitchen, without any hassle. Once you have prepared the achaar, just pour it in a glass jar and allow it to ferment for two days.
