Over a thousand lay people, including members of the Kerala Catholic Youth Movement (KCYM) and the Pastoral Council of the Ernakulam-Angamaly Syrian Catholic Archdiocese, gathered here on Sunday to demand that the latest report on the controversial land deals in the archdiocese be made public.
They also demanded that Cardinal George Alencherry, Major Archbishop, should be replaced by an administrative archbishop to manage the day-to-day affairs of the archdiocese.
“We have the right to know the truth,” said KCYM archdiocesan president Sooraj John Paulose after the meeting.
The members of the archdiocesan pastoral council sent out a warning to the archdiocesan administration and Cardinal George Alencherry that their hands should not be forced to bring out over five lakh members of the archdiocese for street protests.
