TO THE EDITOR:
I am in full agreement with Keith Crain's "It will be a rude awakening" (June 17), regarding the cycle time into mainstream acceptance of electric vehicles.
It seems like all the conversation about electric cars focuses on things like how far it can go, where do I get a charge, how long does it take to get a charge, etc. (Can you imagine the lines of cars waiting for enough energy to evacuate for a hurricane?)
I haven't heard anything about the security of our grid system for a while. I remember when the big scare was how our national security was considered vulnerable to hacks or failure through the grid system.
Should we not be concerned with our personal transportation becoming reliant upon a grid system that was reported as "vulnerable" just a few years ago?
Should we, as a nation, be shut down because there's no electricity?
Maybe the hybrid is the most reasonable solution.
