MIT conducts faculty development workshop at campus

PUNE: MIT College of Management (MITCOM), under the MIT Arts, Design and Technology University organised a teacher's training programme for all the teachers, representing different universities and colleges from Maharashtra. Teachers working for colleges in engineering, management, journalism and commerce faculties participated in this training programme held on July 5 and 6.

A statement issued by the college said that, the theme of the teacher training programme was -- Student centric education system and research skills’. The workshop was held at the Manet Hall MIT-ADT University Campus in Rajbaug, Loni Kalbhor. Over 50 teachers attended the workshop.

Executive president, MIT ADT University, Mangesh Karad, welcomed the resource persons. This workshop was organised with an objective to upgrade the skills of teachers along with equipping them with the changing patterns of communication skills necessary for the latest classrooms.

The workshop was conducted by experts from the fields of strategy, finance and communication skills respectively. Educator and motivator, Ashish Kumar, spoke on traditional methods of teaching. "The entire process begins with a teacher giving out lessons, pointing out important areas, curating a quiz that tests how much a student has grasped and ends with assessing each of them individually," said Kumar.

Karad stated that the programme has laid greater emphasis upon discovering the potential, inherent strengths and intrinsic skills of every individual. "Here the teacher is being looked upon as a guiding force and conscience keeper by the students to channelize their energy and thought in the right direction. These practices are meant to encourage lifelong acquisition and retention of knowledge as well as its practical application in everyday life. This idea also runs on the lines of Experiential Learning which does not defy traditional methods and logic but simply aims to improve them," said Karad.
