Recent inspections have revealed that over 1.75 lakh entities withdrew cash amounts of more than Rs 1 crore from their accounts in 2017-18. The withdrawals that sum up to Rs 11 lakh crore, have prompted the government to impose checks for better tracking and reduction of cash transactions. While many of the transactions have been identified as genuine business needs, the government believes the data has thrown light on many instances of illicit activities as well. Reportedly, many instances showed incorrect PAN being shared or not being shared at all.
