Members of the Tamil Nadu All Cooperative Bank Employees Association (TACBEA) staged a demonstration, urging the government to ‘hold back’ its decision to transfer the secretaries of Primary Agriculture Cooperative Credit Societies (PACCS) in the districts.
G. Muthuramalingam, TACBEA district president, who led the protest in front of the Collectorate here on Monday, said the government after its recent Government Order and circular has decided to classify the PACCS in three different categories – those making continuous profits, those made profit in any one year in the last five years and those making loss and transfer the secretaries within the district.
As the association apprehended that the interests of the secretaries – both career wise and promotion wise, especially those who performed well would be affected, the government should hold back its decision till they allay their apprehension and streamlining the system, he said.
Transfer of secretaries without removing the anomalies would badly hit PACCS and force the employees to go without salaries, he warned. As the pay structure of the secretaries varied from society to society, transfers without addressing the problem would demoralise them, he said.
Pointing that employees were working in the cooperative department for 10 to 20 years without promotions, he said the decision to introduce ‘common cadre’ would totally affect their promotional prospects, he said.
TACBEA district vice presidents T. Thirumal, P. Gopal, district secretary K. Krishnan, Joint secretaries A. Revathi, K. Samiyandi and treasurer Gunjarapandian were among others present in the demonstration.
