The Acushnet Public Library is celebrating summer reading with a variety of programming highlighting the statewide theme “A Universe of Stories.”

“We are all connected through stories and the library hopes to build on this sense of community and engage young people and adults throughout the Greater New Bedford area in the summer and beyond,” a press release from the library states.

For the second year in a row, the library, located at 232 Middle Road, will offer a Summer Concert Series on Monday evenings at 6 p.m. Concerts will be held on the library lawn or, in the event of rain, in the community room.

Patrons are asked to bring a chair or blanket for the outside events.

July 8 — Women in World Jazz Music from around the world
July 15 — Mark T. Small Music from the early 1800s to the late 1950s
July 22 — The Walking Sticks Good Time Blues & Old Time Jazz!
July 29 — Unit 5 Quintet Jazz music for your listening pleasure
August 5 — String Theory Easy listening from 1950’s to present
August 12 — G & J. Kelley Adult contemporary music
