Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met Gujarati folk singer Geeta Rabari and hailed her efforts and works despite her humble background.
After the meeting with young and prolific singer from his home state, Mr Modi tweeted ”…her works have enthralled Gujaratis globally! I remember encouraging her to pursue singing when she was a child and today, I had the opportunity to interact with her. It was wonderful to know more about her experiences.”
He said ”People like Geeta Rabari inspire our society. She single-mindedly pursued her passion of singing and excelled. I am deeply impressed by her efforts to popularise Gujarati folk music among youngsters. Best wishes for her future endeavours.”
After the meeting at Parliament House, Geeta penned a song for the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister also met author Amish Tripathi and received copies of his works.
In a missive, Mr Modi said : ”Wonderful interaction with @authoramish. Received copies of his works, which are being widely read across the nation. His writings have generated immense curiosity about India’s rich past and culture. Best wishes to him.”
Amish is known for his novels –The Immortals of Meluha, The Secret of the Nagas, The Oath of the Vayuputras, Scion of Ikshvaku and Sita: Warrior of Mithila.
The first three tomes collectively comprise the Shiva Trilogy while the other two are the first of the Ram Chandra Series which is going to be a five-book collection.
