Gurgaon: A day after recovering the body of the
owner of a city-based placement agency from Sukhrali area, police on Saturday arrested the two accused — involved in the
murder — after identifying them with the help of the CCTV footage recovered from the area.
The body was identified to be of Lokesh Sharma, a resident of Firozpur Jhirka in Mewat.
According to the police, the accused — Manoj Shukla (36) and Sahil Mehta (34)— were arrested from Gurgaon by the crime unit of Sector 17C police station.
“Manoj owns a courier
company adjacent to Sharma’s office in Sukhrali while Sahil worked as a delivery boy in Manoj’s company. On July 4, Lokesh shit his office and started for home. As there was heavy traffic on the roads due to rain, he decided to return to office and start after a while. The accused were
drinking in their office and asked Sharma to join them,” an officer said.
“After a couple of drinks, they had an argument and the accused thrashed Sharma to death. They then fled the spot,” he added.
Himanshu, Sharma’s younger brother, told police that Sharma had called him up around 9pm and informed him that he was taking a bus home. As he didn’t reach home after several hours, Himanshu tried calling him, but his phone was switched off.
“After some time, I got a call informing me that my brother is dead. When I reached the mortuary, I saw several
injury marks on my brother’s body,” Himanshu said.
An FIR was registered under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC at Sector 18 police station and while checking the CCTV footage, police identified the accused.
“The accused were produced in a city court on Sunday and sent to judicial custody,” said police spokesperson Subhash Boken.
