Panaji: Four persons were injured, two of them seriously, after a group allegedly attacked them using a sword and iron rods, at two different places, first at Nagali, Taleigao and later on at Ribandar, on Sunday night, reportedly over the previous enmity.
One of the injured person’s wrist was chopped off in the incident, the police said, adding that both the incidents are interlinked and those injured are from one group.
Two separate FIRs have been registered on charges of attempt to murder – one by the Panaji police against the accused Jack, Gavresh Bandodkar,
and Kamlesh all from Taleigao, Manish from Chorao and four other unknown accused, while the other one is by the Old Goa police against Jack, Gavresh, Kamlesh and Manish.
The accused are absconding, the police said, adding that the motive behind the attack appears to be some previous enmity.
The accused named in the FIRs are known to the injured, the police said.
The first incident occurred at Nagali, Taleigao on Sunday night at around 9.30 wherein a group of 8 accused, four of them wearing masks allegedly assaulted Eknath Gauns and Yuvnath Kuttikar.
The alleged accused had come on three two-wheelers, which were without vehicle registration numbers. After the attack, the alleged accused fled away. Gauns and Kuttikar are residing in the same area and the incident occurred few metres way from their houses, informed the police, adding both were standing near a car, which was undergoing some repairs. After being alerted about the attack, Yuvnath’s brother Krishna along with his friend Dilip Kankonkar proceeded on a two wheeler to track down the accused. Upon reaching Ribandar, they noticed the four accused persons.
The police said that the four accused allegedly assaulted Krishna and Dilip, reportedly using sword and stones during which Krishna’s wrist was chopped off. The incident occurred at
around 10.45 pm.
Old Goa PI Jivba Dalvi said that offence has been registered for attempt to murder and complaint in this regard was filed by Dilip.
Earlier, in the Taleigao incident, the Panaji police said that the complaint was lodged by Eknath.
Yuvnath has sustained grievous head injuries owing to a sword attack so also his brother Krishna. Both are undergoing treatment at the GMC, Bambolim while the other two injured, Eknath and Dilip have been discharged, informed the police.
Meanwhile, Panaji police managed to arrest Gavresh Bandodkar.
