Nagpur: Three threat letters were found pasted on the advertising board adjoining the RTM Nagpur University campus bus stop on Amravati road, on Monday.
The anonymous letters, typed in English, which threatened dire consequences if economically backward open category candidates were disqualified on the basis of caste reservation, sent the cops on a wild-goose chase.
The letters were mainly targeting the student community, as they were found near the university campus. Ambazari police, which later alerted other intelligence agencies, recorded the incident in their station diary.
The letters, copies of which are now in possession of TOI, stated that it was the last chance for the authorities to take interviews and give the jobs. The letters also flaunted the abilities of a back-end team that could apparently hack into any system.
One D. Tiwari claimed to be the author of the letters, and wrote that ‘crores of people would be killed’. The writer boasted of possessing the latest designs of different types of latest firearms and bombs.
The writer threatened that the ‘yamraj’ or the God of death as per Hindu mythology, was on His way to click the ‘bomb’s remote’. The writer also claimed that they had coordination with ‘DIG’ or ‘Dawood Ibrahim Gangs’ and other international gangs.
The writer also dropped the suggestion that rules of providing jobs to unemployed persons from open and economically backward class should be included in the amendments of the constitution.
, which was referred to as ‘Version 2.0’.
The anti-terrorist cell of the Nagpur police special branch started probing into the matter. Meanwhile, the state anti-terrorist squad too collected information regarding the letters.
