Man in custody as police investigate mysterious death in Perth's east
Police are investigating after a man was found collapsed on a Perth street in the early hours of Monday morning.
Nine News Perth reporter Jacquelin Robson said neighbours heard yelling on Ferguson Street in Midvale around 9pm on Sunday and police were called to the scene around midnight.
“They say they hear yelling in this street quite often but obviously it [may have] turned to something far more serious than an argument,” she said.
Police found the man, believed to be 24-year-old, collapsed on the street with no visible injuries.
Officers performed CPR and called St John Ambulance.
The man was taken to Midland Hospital around 12.55am, but he later died.
Robson said a man had been taken into custody following the death, but no charges have been laid.
“It's quite a mystery, they can't call it a murder but they do have a man in custody and a man has died,” she said.
A WA Police spokesman later confirmed a man was helping with their investigation.
"A man in his 30s is assisting police with their inquiries," he said. "It is believed the two men are known to each other."
Major Crime detectives have cordoned off a section of the footpath and remain on the scene.
It’s understood a post-mortem examination will likely determine the man’s cause of death.
