Thiruvananthapuram: Indian embassy in Oman would take special initiatives to enhance cooperation between Kerala and Oman in a number of sectors, including health, education and information technology.
The Indian ambassador to Oman, Munu Mahawar, gave the assurance in this regard to chief minister Pinarayi Vijayaan, when the former called on the CM here on Monday.
The chief minister appealed to the ambassador to ensure effective intervention in the issued faced by Malayali diaspora in Oman. The meeting recalled the contributions of Indians, especially Malayalis, in building up the economy of Oman. Malayalis make the single largest diaspora in Oman.
“The meeting has identified tourism, healthcare and information technology as core fields wherein Kerala and Oman could cooperate. This would in turn help a lot for improving the ties between India and Oman. Since Kerala has proved its mettle in the above said sectors, the chief minister has requested the ambassador to take steps for enhancing the cooperation between Oman and Kerala,” according to a statement from the office of the chief minister.
