Jharkhand minister lists achievements of urban development department

C P Singh addresses the media in Ranchi on Friday
RANCHI: With four months left for the assembly elections in the state, the government has been organising a slew of review meetings, where ministers are not shying away from enlisting their achievements during the last four-and-a-half years of BJP rule. On Friday, urban development minister C P Singh addressed media persons in the state capital to highlight his achievements.
Singh presented the data for the work carried out under NDA government’s flagship programmes — Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Antyodaya Yojana - National Urban Livelihood Mission (DAY-NULM) — during his tenure. He said, “Proposals for 1,80,075 houses were approved across the state, of which 48,567 houses have already been constructed while another 44,233 are under various stages of construction.”
Singh also lauded the officials of his department for their efforts under Swachh Bharat Mission. “A total of 2,17,212 individual toilets and 566 community toilets were constructed across the state, helping Jharkhand bag Centre’s Swachh Survekshan Award for ‘best performing states’ in 2018.”

Singh also highlighted the works undertaken by his government towards developing Ranchi as a smart city. “We are developing a smart city over 656.3 acres of land in HEC area. A control and command centre for police and traffic department is also under construction,” he said.
Singh who also holds the portfolio of transport minister said lands have been identified in Sukurhuttu, Dubaliya and near Birsa Agriculture University in Kanke for development of Transport Nagar, with an aim to make the state capital free from heavy vehicular traffic. “The land acquisition process had hit a minor hurdle as a portion of private land came in between the identified areas. However, we have released compensation funds and the issue will be resolved within a few weeks,” he added.
