Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the mega
plantation drive in the city on Saturday.
He planted a 7 ft ‘Peepal’ sapling amid chanting of vedic mantras at Anand Kanan Naugrah Vatika in Harahua primary school situated along the Panchkroshi Parikrama road in the city. More than 50,000 saplings were planted along Panchkroshi road, ring road, 48 gram panchayats and city areas on the occasion.
Earlier, he unveiled a statue of former PM Lal Bahadur Shastri at LBS International airport and inaugurated the Virtual Experiential Museum at Maan Mahal during his stay in the city on Saturday. Before concluding his Varanasi visit Modi reached Dashaswamedh ghat to inaugurate the VEM at Maan Mahal and visited all eight halls to see its components and specialities.
