NEW DELHI: The Special Cell of Delhi Police managed to avert a gang war at Tees Hazari courts when it nabbed two members of a gang after a shootout early morning. The men had allegedly planned to kill a rival who had a court appearance on Friday.
Both criminals go by the name of Rahul and one of them received a gunshot injury in return fire, police said. The two men work for Tillu-Bawania gang that operates in outer Delhi areas.
“We recovered two pistols and cartridges from the men. They are also wanted in several cases of robbery and attempted murders,” said DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav.
The operation was conducted by a team comprising ACP Sanjay Dutt and inspectors Sanjeev and Man Singh. The team had received information that some criminals have purchased firearms to commit a robbery or carjacking in Dwarka.

Police laid a trap in Dwarka Sector 23 on Thursday night. Around 12.30am, two men were flagged down. The men tried to flee and opened fire when the cops chased them. A bullet hit Constable Manjit’s bulletproof jacket while another narrowly missed SI Anand’s head.
The cops also returned fire, and Rahul Jaat was hit in his thigh and both men were caught. Jaat was rushed to the hospital where he is said to be out of danger. The other was identified as Rahul alias Pravesh. Rahul also has a case of sexual harassment and assault against him in Patel Nagar police station. He has been declared an absconder from the court in this case.
