UP boy forced to sweep school gets stung by scorpion. School chooses tantrik over hospital

It was only after the boy's condition got worse that he was rushed to the hospital, where he died the next day.

A classmate said the boy was removing a pile of twigs when the scorpion bit him.

A class 4 boy studying at a primary government school of a village in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi died after getting stung by scorpion.

According to a report in The Times Of India, the students were allegedly ordered to sweep the school floors when the incident took place on Wednesday.

A classmate said the boy was removing a pile of twigs when the scorpion bit him.

Further, when a scorpion stung the 10-year-old student while sweeping, the school authorities took him to a tantrik (occultist).

It was only after the boy's condition got worse that he was rushed to the hospital, where he died the next day.

As per the allegations, the headmaster who asked the boy clean floors and took him to the tantrik, called up the tantrik who wasn't at home. As the headmaster held the phone to the boy's ear, the tantrik recited mantras to him.

With the headmaster being held responsible for the boy's death, Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Jhansi has suspended him and ordered an inquiry into the allegations.
