Motorists have to wait till September 2020 for completion of the long-pending 2.4 km elevated corridor between Sony World junction and Kendriya Sadan junction at Koramangala. Construction of this much-awaited elevated corridor, which is expected to ease movement of vehicles in and around the area, started in October 2017.
Mayor Gangambike Mallikarjun, on Saturday, inspected the progress of work and directed the officials concerned to complete the project at the earliest. Civic officials attributed the delay to encroachment of 46 private buildings and three government properties.
A BBMP official involved with the project said, “We only get to work for around eight hours every day, from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Besides, heavy vehicles, such as cement bloom placers, face difficulty navigating this narrow road.”
As there are no alternate routes, residents and commuters complain of the traffic snarls and dust.
“Once the flyover is completed, travel time between Domlur flyover on Inner Ring Road and Kendriya Sadan junction will be reduced by at least 30 minutes,” said an official.
The stretch has seven junctions, including Ejipura Main Road junction, Sony World junction, Kendriya Sadan junction and Koramangala BDA complex junction.
