UP: 8 killed, 2 injured in truck-tempo collision in Auraiya

KANPUR: As many as eight persons, including five teachers, were killed while two others sustained injuries after a speeding truck collided with a tempo on Dibiyapur-Bela road under the limits of Sahayal police station in Auraiya district on Saturday morning.
The injured persons were shifted to the district hospital. Bodies of the deceased have been sent for postmortem.
Further investigation is being carried out and searches are on to arrest the absconding truck driver.
"The accident took place at around 6.30am when the tempo driver tried to overtake another tempo and collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction," superintendent of police Suniti said.
Suniti said eight passengers of the tempo died on the spot while two others sustained serious injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Swaroopa Shukla (61), Rakesh Gupta (60), Swatantra Verma (60), Dinesh Kumar Verma (40), Pankaj Pathak (35) tempo driver, Santosh Rajput (50), Babol Singh Bhadauriya (45) and Jameel (42).
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over mishap. The CM directed officials to provide best possible medical help to the injured people.
