MC chief pulls up waste contractor over operations

Ludhiana: In a meeting on Friday, municipal commissioner K P Brar pulled up A2Z waste management company for not conforming to work standards. He also asked them to operate the reduced derived fuel (RDF) plant round the clock for effective waste management.
Recently, closed circuit cameras (CCTVs) were installed at the main garbage dump site on Tajpur Road and officials can now keep a check on the working of the plant through their mobile phones as well. The waste management company, however, has sought the payment of Rs 3 crore for the completion of the compost plant. The company has also been asked to ensure garbage lifting at a faster rate so that residents don’t face any delays in garbage disposals. tnn
