PANAJI: The Goa Headmasters’ Association has objected to the move that allows students to attend classes of X and XII, even if they fail in all subjects in standard IX and XI.
According to the proposal, the results will be declared once the students clear all the exams.
Association members on Friday met chairman of Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, pointing out that this “mass promotion” would not encourage students of standard IX and XI to study as they would be assured of being promoted to the next class.
“Students will find it difficult studying the portion of class X/XII while at the same time preparing to clear the subjects that they have failed in standards IX and XI,” association president Mariano Valadares said.

“What will be the quality if you have one set of students who have passed on their own and another set who have been pushed through,” he said.
Valadares also questioned the double set of rules, pointing out that this facility was not available for standard X and XII students.
