Man held with 7.7kg of ganja in Goa

PANAJI: The anti-narcotics cell (ANC) of the Goa Police on Friday arrested Madhya Pradesh native and Marcel resident, Sanjay Barma, with 7.7kg of a narcotic substance suspected to be ganja. Estimated to be worth Rs 7 lakh, this is the biggest seizure of ganja by the ANC in recent years.

Upon receiving information that a peddler was likely to arrive at Marcel to strike a deal, SP (ANC) Utkrisht Prasoon, formed a team to collect intelligence pertaining to supply of the drug in the interiors of the state. When Barma arrived at the spot, he was immediately arrested and the drugs recovered.
Police said the drugs had been intended for sale in areas like Ponda, Sanquelim and Panaji. Further investigations are on.
