Members of Tamil Nadu Government TASMAC Employees Union on Thursday staged a demonstration here pressing time-scale pay for 27,000 employees.
The protesters, led by its State vice-president, Kamaraj, said that the employees were working for consolidated pay for 16 years. Apart from seeking regularisation of their jobs, they also sought time-scale pay.
Surplus employees of TASMAC should be diverted to other Government departments and Government undertaking sector. The workers should be provided with medical insurance as given to other Government employees.
Stating that the TASMAC employees have been staging different types of protests for very long, he said the Government has not taken any concrete steps to meet their demands. The protesters sported yellow shirts as part of their agitation.
