Debt-ridden businessman Faizan Ahmed (32), who shot himself inside a car on Thursday and succumbed to gunshot wounds while undergoing treatment on Friday, had purchased a country-made pistol from Madhya Pradesh in May, investigators said.
23-hour trip
After scrutinising the GPS device of the pick-up truck in which Faizan went to Mandla in Madhya Pradesh and returned to Hyderabad within 23 hours on May 21, police suspect that the solo trip was only to procure the firearm.
“As of now, we believe that the victim was planning to end his life for the past few weeks and on May 21, he went to Mandla to procure the weapon. His in-laws also hail from Madhya Pradesh,” police officers associated with the investigation told The Hindu.
Police are planning to seize the laptops, mobile phones and other electronic devices belonging to Faizan to track his financial transactions and details about his business.
Married 12 years ago
The victim, who got married to a woman belonging to a different community nearly 12 years ago, stayed in Dubai for a couple of years before coming back to India to start a job consultancy.
“He had hired a Mercedes Benz for two years and was paying ₹2.50 lakh as rent per month for it,” police said.
Huge losses
They found that the victim incurred huge losses in his job consultancy, forcing him to resort to the extreme step on the Nehru Outer Ring Road at Manchirevula village near Narsingi.
