Television viewers received a shock ever since they learnt that Disha Vakani stepped down from playing Dayaben. Her reasons for the same are unknown. The actress took a maternity leave last year, but never returned back to the show, thus forcing makers to find a new faces.

News reports, including a report on Pinkvilla, stated that Vibhoutee Sharma, who was previously seen in 'Bade Acche Lagte Hai', has been approached to play Dayaben on the show after Disha Vakani's exit. The report went on to state that she had taken mock test for the role in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and was awaiting confirmation.

Vibhoutee, clearing the air around the same topic, in an interview with Timesofindia.com, said, “I don’t know where these rumours are coming from. I am not replacing Disha Vakani in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, neither have I given any mock test. I am not interested in doing TV shows. I have currently taken a break from doing TV shows. This is really funny. I keep doing ads and was never interested in doing regular daily soaps. I have shot for a film which is in the pipeline.”

Not only Vibhoutee, news reports even stated that Ami Trivedi, who played a pivotal role in Papad Pol, had been approached for the role. However there is no confirmation from her side either. It definitely looks like the makers are still searching for our legendary character Dayaben.
