Will revolutionise education sector: CM Jaganmohan Reddy

AMARAVATI: Stating that the government will revolutionise the education sector, chief minister YS Jagan has promised to strengthen the government schools and colleges on war footing. He said that fee regulatory commission will be appointed to bring down the sky-rocketing fees in private educational institutions in the state.
CM said that Right to Education Act will be enforced without any compromise to bring the quality education closer to the poor.
Chief minister interacted with the members of high-level experts committee appointed to make recommendations to revamp the education system in the state here on Friday. CM said that the government would take all measures to ensure that there would not be any drop-outs from high-school and college. He wanted that the education system to reformed to see that any student should be in a position to get the job once he/she completed graduation. CM said that Amma Vodi programme would be implemented from January 26 besides implementing the fees reimbursement scheme in totality. He said that English medium would be introduced in every school.
CM said that the government would take the project of strengthening the government schools as a challenge. He lamented that the previous government for encouraging private schools. He has asked the officials to take the photos of the government schools as on date which could be used for comparison at a future date after taking effective steps as suggested by the expert committee on educational reforms.
CM said that mid-day meals in urban areas would be handed over to Akshayapatra while it would be handed over to the self-help women groups in rural areas.
A high-level committee would be constituted for monitoring the schools, said CM adding that a Bill would be introduced in the ensuing assembly session to regulate the fees in private institutions.

The expert committee members said that a regulatory mechanism should be evolved to check the exploitation of private players in the education sector. They lauded the vision of Chief Minister to strengthen the government schools. Playgrounds and sports should also be given due priority, observed members.
