PANCHKULA: Kalka police on Thursday booked a person for duping a principal of a public school on the pretext of sending her son abroad.
The complainant, Praveen Sharma, a resident of Kuradi Mohalla in Kalka and the principal of Northern Valley Public School, told cops that Sunil Bhasin told her he could help her son settle abroad. Sharma told cops that Bhasin gave home tuition to her daughter.
"He told me that he was interested in sending her daughter to Canada and I must also think about my son's future. He said he could help my son settle in Canada. Bhasin convinced me, following which I gave him necessary documents and paid him Rs 6 lakh in multiple transactions in the name of processing fee," the complainant said.
After a few days, when Sharma contacted Bhasin to know the about status of the task, he informed her that the authorities concerned had stopped accepting applications for the session. She again contacted Bhasin in September 2018, however, this time, the accused did not respond to any of her calls.
"I then contacted Canadian embassy in Delhi to know the status of my son's application. To my surprise, there was no file or application submitted in my son's name," the complainant told cops.

Sharma then visited Bhasin's house and came to know he was lodged in a Solan jail for committing a bank fraud.
A complaint moved to cops, following which a case was registered under Sections 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code at Kalka police station.
