Tata Communications has formed a three-member committee to take up the role of MD and CEO in the wake of the abrupt resignation of Vinod Kumar.

In a letter to employees, Renuka Ramnath, chairperson of Tata Communications, confirmed that Kumar had left the digital infrastructure arm of Tata Sons to pursue other professional opportunities.

The chairperson added that to ensure “business continues without interruption, the board has constituted a management committee comprising Anthony Bartolo, chief product officer, Sumeet Walia, chief sales and marketing officer and Pratibha Advani, chief financial officer. This management committee would be delegated with the powers of MD & CEO.”

“…we have the right foundation and a clear roadmap for future growth, underpinned by a strong leadership team and talent within the organisation to take the business forward,” she stated in the letter. The chairperson thanked the outgoing MD for creating the “vibrant” company.

The company said late on Tuesday that Kumar, who is based in Singapore, had put in his papers for personal reasons and that the board had accepted his resignation effective end of July 5. His tenure was till January 31, 2021.
