In a disturbing turn of events that claimed the life of an entire family, a man on Thursday night hanged himself to death after killing his wife and their three children in Shatabdi Puram of Masuri in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad.
According to reports, the police have recovered a suicide note from the location.
In the note, the man, identified as Pradip (37), had reportedly written that his wife used to suspect him all the time, much to his annoyance. This was the reason why he had therefore decided to end the family and also commit suicide himself.
"The note further says that after placing poison in the children's mouths, he had taped their lips shut," said Sudhir Kumar Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ghaziabad.
Their eldest child was an eight-year-old, while the other two children were of ages five and three, respectively.
According to sources, the man was an alcoholic who had been unemployed for several years, while his wife worked as a staff nurse at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.
The neighbours informed the police on Friday morning after they had heard the cries of one of the wounded children.
The incident has generated sensation in the locality. Further investigations are underway.
